Airtel has yet again secured the top spot in terms of average 4G LTE speed chart in India. Meanwhile, upstart Reliance Jio has seen its numbers improve drastically according to an OpenSignal report. According to the report, Reliance Jio lags behind Airtel, Vodafone, and Idea in terms of 4G speeds but is market leading in terms of 4G coverage.

Like Speedtest before it, OpenSignal says Airtel offers the fastest 4G speeds, and Vodafone takes the second spot, closely followed by Idea at third place, while the Mukesh Ambani-owned Jio rounds up the list at the fourth spot. Airtel scored 9.15 Mbps in the download average speeds for 4G networks, while rival Jio had 5.81 Mbps speeds. Vodafone was number two with 7.45 Mbps average speeds.

OpenSignal said a possible reason for the decline in speed is that these carriers have also slashed data prices on their networks which have resulted in an increase in data usage which in turn has likely caused congestion on the networks. When it comes to getting a network signal the Opensignal report says that 4G LTE is growing in India very quick as the 3 top operators have 4G in almost 60 percent of the nation. Reliance Jio LTE leads the way where users are able to connect to its network 05.6 percent of the time. Meanwhile, Airtel found itself at the bottom of the table with only 57.2 percent.
