BMW active hybrid 62-mile range. BMW has announced the latest ride that fits into its BMW Bike Collection. The bicycle is called the BMW Active Hybrid e-bike and it uses an advanced Brose electric motor that supplements the pedal power of the rider for less effort on long commutes. That electric motor has an output of 250W and 90 Nm of torque.
Its internals includes a 250 wAh motor and a 504 wAh battery that can be detached from the bike and is able to provide assistance for up to 62 miles. Gadget gurus will love this bike it even has a micro USB socket as well as Bluetooth functionality. The four assistance modes range from Eco to Turbo and the maximum speed is 16 mph.
Design cues include the hydroformed aluminum frame painted in two-tone Frozen Black and Arctic Silver, LED lighting and even a custom saddle created specifically for e-bikes along with a very light fiberglass handle. The innovative design offers a stable seating position and improves balance when pushing off and braking.
Electric mobility is the future and there is no doubt about it. Right from pure-electric vehicles to plug-in hybrids, every manufacturer out there is working on strengthening its EV portfolio across different verticals. Interestingly, apart from usual electric four-wheeler and two-wheelers, electric bicycles have also found a new interest in several markets across the world.
India is one such market where also has e-bikes from brands like, Hero Electric and Being Human. The seat also has three-zones of padding using 3D Skingel and Royal Gel. The seat also has a molded-in fiberglass handle underneath to help move the bike around. BMW is shipping the bike now to select BMW dealers priced at 3,400 euros, which is about $4,000.
